What’s next for Conor McGregor after record-fast UFC 194 victory?
Conor McGregor’s meteoric rise in the UFC is nearly unbelievable but it’s exactly what he’s been predicting all along. It takes a while to digest, but part.
Standing victorious over the #1 pound-for-pound mixed martial arts fighter in the world, Conor McGregor seems to have an opponent in line after Jose Aldo.
Before the fight, Aldo dominated the UFC featherweight division for seven years where he remained undefeated during that time.
Will Aldo ever get the chance to raise the belt aloft again?
Asked if he will be looking for a rematch, he said, “Of course, if God wills it, now, firstly I want to get back to gym and come back stronger”. “He wanted to fight Jose Aldo and then move to 55 and then fight for that title”.
“We’ll have to see how the contest plays out; if he can give me a war and he can handle a rematch, well then, we can do a rematch, but I just don’t see him answering the bell for the second round”, McGregor told MMAjunkie. But don’t think that means McGregor plans on giving up his featherweight title to make that fight happen.
McGregor feels that even if the fight had gone longer, the result would’ve been the same.
Well, McGregor earned his spot on the cover of the upcoming game… and it only took him 13 seconds to land the coveted spot.
“He’s powerful and he’s fast, but precision beats power and timing beats speed”, McGregor said.
“I said to Lorenzo, and I said to (UFC CEO) Dana (White), I’m bringing in these big numbers”.
And just like that, McGregor adds another feather to his cap of achievements, although a rematch looms over the horizon. “Not only me but my career speaks for itself”, Aldo said. He says he wants to fight the lightweight champion, whether Cowboy Cerrone or Rafael Dos Anjos, in his next fight to collect a second belt.
However as a fighter who competes in the Featherweight division and aspiring to claim my own piece of UFC glory.
Boom, he’s back. We’ll see what Conor decides to do, if he decides to make the weight, not make the weight, whatever. Speaking to the Fight Network ahead of the fight, Riggs said, “The fact that the guy (Aldo) who’s considered the pound-for-pound best fighter on the planet and he’s the underdog against this guy (McGregor) who’s f***ing nothing”.
