McCoy’s Highly Anticipated Return to Philadelphia
Last week’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles was a particularly meaningful one for McCoy as it marked the first time he has faced his former team since the Eagles traded McCoy for Kiko Alonso in the offseason.
A sarcastic kiss to the Eagles logo at midfield was the culmination of a year’s worth of shit-talking of his old team.
Kelly said he understands McCoy’s bitterness and still plans to extend his hand if he sees him on the field.
REX’S RETURN: Bills coach Rex Ryan returns to the city where his dad is revered.
BILLS 7, EAGLES 7: Tyrod Taylor 47-yard pass to Sammy Watkins for the touchdown. The Eagles had Murray, Darren Sproles, Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner all active against the Bills and Murray ended up getting 13 touches in the game.
EXTRA SPECIAL TEAMS: One week after two touchdowns on special teams helped the Eagles upset New England, another big play on a punt got Philadelphia going. Kelly remained on the Eagles’ side of the field. His interception of Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor allowed the Eagles’ offense to kneel out the final seconds and maintain a share of the NFC East lead with a 6-7 record. And then McCoy declined to talk to reporters after the game, simply saying “I got nothing to say to y’all”.
A 61-yard touchdown drive set up by a solid first defensive series gave the Eagles an early advantage.
Later in the third, the Bills marched down the field and capped off the drive with just signed two weeks ago Mike Gillislee’s 19-yard touchdown run. The Bills got the ball back with less than two minutes to go in the game. He lost 10 yards on one play in the fourth quarter. Bradford, the Eagles’ starting quarterback, threw 247 yards including a 53-yard TD to Nelson Agholor.
Fighting through a picket line of injuries, McCoy has rushed for 792 yards and three touchdowns this season with his new team.
“You look at the Rodgers, the Brees, the Bradys, the Roethlisbergers, the guys that are playing really, really well right now, it’s because they’ve got experience, and it’s something you can’t manufacture, you have to let it play out.”
Sturgis converted another field goal to open the second half, this time from 41 yards to push the Eagles’ lead to 10. That was the turning point in the game, I thought that’s when they kind of stole the momentum from us.
