Clinton Township 13-year-old leads police on chase
A 13-year-old boy is in custody after leading deputies on a wild police chase through Clinton Township with his 8-year-old sister as the passenger, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy spotted the auto at a red light around 11:30 p.m. on Metropolitan Parkway near Harper Avenue.
The deputy put on the lights and the kid initially pulled over, but he then sped away as the sheriff’s deputy approached the vehicle.
With help from Clinton Township police, the deputy caught up with the young runners.
“As you can see, he is driving on the shoulder of the roadway, passing cars and again traveling on the highway at a speed – again, very inexperienced driver, shouldn’t even be out there”, Wickersham said.
A 13-year-old driver led police on a brief chase Saturday before being arrested in a freakish incident captured on dashcam video footage.
Immediately, the police auto resumes its pursuit before the boy suddenly loses control and veers off across a grass verge and coming to a stop on the opposite side of the carriageway.
“They were staying at their father’s house, and the father and his girlfriend were sleeping”.
The girl was turned over to her mother, and the teen was taken to Macomb Juvenile Justice Center.
Sheriff’s officials say the deputy pursued – not knowing who was in the vehicle.
He faces a juvenile detention hearing Monday.
