Oregon State Beavers ranked 8th by Collegiate Baseball
Maryland junior right-handed pitcher Mike Shawaryn was selected as a preseason first-team Louisville Slugger All-American, Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced Tuesday. Other CCU opponents that received votes for the Fabulous 40 include Mississippi, Illinois, Ball State, UNC Wilmington, Radford, Liberty, Stetson, Wake Forest and CT.
Jackson’s most memorable outing came in Game 3 of the NCAA Fayetteville Super Regional when he took the mound in the sixth inning against Missouri State.
Harrison was the Pac-12’s Conference’s top freshman in 2015 when he batted. The Beavers are one of four Pac-12 teams ranked in the top 40 to open the year, and the only one in the top 10. In 2014, right-hander Kyle Cody, a senior in 2015, was tabbed a preseason All-American by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.
The Gamecocks return five position starters, 13 pitchers and 23 letterwinners from last year’s team and will also feature a recruiting class that has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball.
The Missouri State baseball team, fresh off a season in which they set a school record for wins, will start 2016 as the No. 17 team in the country. OR also welcomes back a strong pitching rotation of lefties in redshirt junior Cole Irvin, sophomore David Peterson and redshirt sophomore Matt Krook.
