Police Investigating Reports of Robbery, Shooting at Long Island Mall

Police in Long Island wereresponding to reports of shots fired inside Roosevelt Field Mall Tuesday afternoon, according to several area news organizations and social media accounts. Nassau County Police say the shooting occurred at a Rolex dealer. “We have one subject in custody”.

The mall on Old Country Road has been evacuated. Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano said the victim is listed in serious but stable condition at a local hospital.

The shooting comes just three days before Christmas as throngs of shoppers descended on stores to finish buying their gifts. After a few minutes, they all left the store; some stores in the mall were closed, others were open and there appeared to be a lot of confusion, Peguero said.

Witnesses said there were dozens of people running out of the mall.
