Browns’ Joe Haden placed on injured reserve for remainder of season

He led the National Football League in passer rating heading into the game.

The plan going forward is to let Manziel start the remaining games.

Despite a couple of mistakes, one of them severly detrimental to a Microsoft Surface tablet, I’m anxious to see how Manziel does against a resurgent Seahawks team in a hard environment last week.

And then the Browns game happened and roughly ten minutes into the proceedings you knew.

The 49ers were coming off an overtime win against the Chicago Bears but fell to 4-9. He left Sunday’s game with a knee injury. The quarterback’s passes were on the money most of the game, however, throwing a touchdown pass in the third quarter to Tight End Gary Barnidge in the third quarter. Barnidge ran a quick out route on the goal line and caught Manziel’s pass while being closely covered by safety Eric Reid to cap the eight-play, 78-yard march. Crowell is the first Browns back with at least 140 yards rushing since Peyton Hillis ran for 184 against New England in 2010…. Crowell and Duke Johnson rushed for 215 yards on over six yards per rush. The 40-year-old kicked a 44-yard field goal and received a warm ovation from Browns fans after the video salute was shown in the first quarter. Literally millions upon millions of dollars were won or lost in fantasy league playoffs and the daily sites because of Crowell’s 145 yards and two touchdowns. The 17 carries were the fewest by a Browns opponent all season. They were the first two sacks of Orchard’s career.

Manziel passed for 270 yards, delivering a quality performance the Browns (3-10) desperately needed.

The ball carriers were better, but the switch from the struggling Cam Erving to Austin Pasztor at left guard produced immediate dividends.

The 49ers took control at their 42 but went three-and-out. However, they did so thanks to a pushover defense finally stepping up while a toothless running game at long last got going.

But the Brown’s impressive offensive totals tallied them just 10-points before heading into the locker room at the half, as three costly turnovers cost them the chance to run away with the game early against a sluggish 49ers team.

Cleveland’s loss was tempered by the loss of wide receiver Brian Hartline, who broke his collarbone and is done for the season. Hartline fumbled at the 1 but recovered to preserve the drive.

Three words summed up the feeling Mike Pettine, his coaching staff, Browns players and everyone else involved with the team felt Monday. He will spend the rest of the season on injured reserve.

Key stat: 11. Sacks for Donald this season, the most among any defensive tackle in the NFL. Or he will have abdicated, once and for all, the position with bad play on the field and bad acting off it. Or he will have shown enough for the Browns to stay interested, but not enough for them to skip Cardale Jones’ pro day. The converted quarterback finished without a catch.

Despite the 49ers crashing to yet another defeat during their disappointing 2015/16 campaign, Hayne’s replacement at punt returner Bruce Ellington produced one of the highlights of the clash.

For the game, Cleveland – which came into the game as the NFL’s worst rushing offense – shredded the 49ers for 230 yards on the ground, averaging 5.6 yards a try.

Phil Dawson has been welcomed back by Browns fans he thrilled for 14 seasons.

Late in the first half, he was forced from the pocket and was being chased by a San Francisco defender near the Browns sideline.

There is speculation Jarryd Hayne might be on the verge of a recall to the San Francisco 49ers game-day squad, with Kendall Gaskins – the running back who replaced the Australian on the roster – suffering a concussion in Monday’s humiliating loss to Cleveland.
