Charlize Theron Will Produce Netflix Series with David Fincher
Fans of the aforementioned movies will be happy to hear that Fincher is developing a similar series for Netflix, and we’ve got all the details for ya today.
Deadline reports that Netflix has snapped up Mind Hunter, which Fincher has been working on for years with executive producer Charlize Theron.
The Mindhunter series is based off the 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by Mark Olshaker and former special agent John E. Douglas. He directed the first two episodes and remained an executive producer on the Emmy-winning show.
He has worked on several high-profile criminal cases including the Green River killer in Washington state, the Atlanta child murders and the serial killing of prostitutes in Alaska. In a turn of fortune, a third series the network passed on six years ago, Mindhunter, has now been revived by – who else? As the model for Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs, Douglas has confronted, interviewed, and studied scores of serial killers and assassins, including Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Ed Gein, who dressed himself in his victims’ peeled skin.
And Fincher developed the show with Spacey based on the acclaimed British series that had starred Ian Richardson as a scheming British politician. Indeed, the show sounds safely located in the wheelhouse of Fincher, director of the recent morally-ambiguous suspense thriller Gone Girl, along with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake and dark film icons from the past like Se7en and Fight Club.
