Drew Brees Becomes 4th QB With 60000 Yards
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees suffered a foot injury during his team’s loss to the Detroit Lions Monday night, and he was in enough pain that he needed a walking boot after the game.
Both Joique Bell and Abdullah had more than 70 yards against the Saints, and the Lions have rushed for more than 100 yards in six of the seven games since Cooter took over offensive coordinator duties. Cooks led all receivers with 10 receptions, 124 yards and his TD.
Stafford shredded the Saints’ porous secondary in the first half, completing 12 of 13 passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns as Detroit raced to a 21-3 halftime lead.
The Saints, expecting a quick pass to Calvin Johnson, double-teamed the receiver with a safety over the top.
The referees concluded Cooks was down a yard short of the end zone, which gave New Orleans a first down with 57 seconds left in the half.
In two years with the Lions, Abdul-Quddus has been a key contributor on special teams and more so on defense this season, starting four of the past five games in place of James Ihedigbo.
“I do think that some of the changes that we’ve made have fit his strengths”, Caldwell said.
Despite the 18-point halftime deficit, New Orleans got within one score late in the game, which proves how important a touchdown would have been to end the first half. They started fast on us.
If Brees can’t play, the Saints would turn to journeyman backup Matt Flynn or rookie Garrett Grayson.
The Lions, who rank 31st in the league in rushing offense, got a major boost from their ground game against the Saints, gaining 150 yards and two scores. Meanwhile, Lance Moore also had one catch, which gained 10 yards.
The Saints then faced fourth down with just three seconds on the clock, and Detroit called a timeout just before New Orleans snapped the ball. His second was knocked loose from Eric Ebron’s hands by a New Orleans Saints defensive back.
Rounding out the Week 15 NFL slate on “Monday Night Football”, we had an NFC matchup between the Lions and the Saints.
