Florida Gained 365000 Residents in Past Year
The University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research estimated the state’s population at 19,691,538 as of April 1.
There have never been more people living in the state of North Dakota.
Florida became the third-most-populous state a year ago, jumping over NY, which continued to lose ground to Florida in the most recent report.
In comparison with the 1950s, when Utah was almost all white, minorities now make up 21.7 percent of the state’s population, according to 2014 data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Thanks to the rising population, the state will likely gain a congressional seat following the 2020 Census, Tippett noted.
“That suggests that the state’s strong economy is attracting people here for jobs”, Dean said. There was a natural increase of 4,375 people during this time, which is the number of births minus deaths over the years.
“There is more we can do”, Murray said. “The question is, ‘Do you have a better opportunity here or someplace else?'” “We were the only state in the country to move backward in the last decade, and now things have been turned around”.
“That’s the most intriguing thing”, said Kimball Brace, the president of Election Data Services, who analyzed the potential impact of the new numbers on long-term political calculus.
The state dropped in nationwide rankings from the ninth to tenth in 2014, falling behind North Carolina.
Michigan’s population gains this year were significantly smaller than the last three years of increases. Estimates puts 12,000 new residents in the city over the 12-month period, or about 1,000 people each month. New York’s population continues to grow because of new immigrants. In 2012, it gained 10,290, and in 2013, it grew by 13,627.
But more residents also bring more challenges. Florida’s growth rate of 1.84 percent was fifth, behind North Dakota (2.28 percent); Colorado (1.89 percent); District of Columbia (1.88 percent); and Nevada (1.85 percent).
