Johnny Depp Named Most Overpaid Actor of 2015, Trumps Adam Sandler
“Depp still pocketed millions personally, making him this year’s most overpaid actor”.
Johnny Depp is many things – an accomplished actor, the subject of many “but is he any good” brunch table debates, and probably a frequent visitor to whatever lair Tim Burton might have built into his house for distinguished guests.
The list itself is based on the last three films each actor starred in before June 2015. Washington hasn’t experienced in Box Office failures in 2015, but “The Equalizer” bringing in $192.3 million on a $55 million budget wasn’t a great success.
Coming in third is Will Ferrell, who probably isn’t laughing over the box office disappointments of “Get Hard“, “Anchorman 2” and “The Campaign”. His newest comedy, “Daddy’s Home”, co-starring Mark Wahlberg, hits theaters this weekend. Denzel Washington: $6.50 per $1 3. It includes some big names like Jonny Depp (at No. 1 ), Will Smith, and Brad Pitt.
Christian Bale: $9.20 for every $1. Channing Tatum: $10.80 per $1 8. Ben Affleck: $12.30 per $1 10.
Depp – whose body of work during that period included the critically ravaged films “Mortdecai” and “Transcendence” – returned a paltry $1.20 for every $1 he made.
Howwever, Depp, who has sequels to two big Disney franchises lined up in the not too distant future, Alice Through the Looking Glass and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is unlikely to top the list again in 2016. Sandler, who had topped the two previous lists, was ineligible this time because of his Netflix deal.
