Chiefs earn Pro Bowl honors
Antonio Brown, Ben Roethlisberger and David DeCastro have been named to the 2016 Pro Bowl.
Fullback John Kuhn was named first alternate.
The other Cardinals selected were wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, guard Mike Iupati, defensive end Calais Campbell, cornerback Patrick Peterson, free safety Tyrann Mathieu and special teams player Justin Bethel. Quarterback Cam Newton was picked for the third time.
WR Green, a fifth-year player, has been voted to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time.
The 2016 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 31 and televised live on ESPN from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the only Bengal at any position to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first five seasons.
Last season, when they went 7-9 and missed the playoffs, no Vikings were selected to the Pro Bowl, the first time that had happened since 1983. With 116 receptions on the season, second in the NFL, Brown joins Wes Welker as the only players to post at least 110 receptions in three-straight seasons. Despite facing frequent double-team blocks this season, particularly with defensive end Robert Quinn missing most of the season with knee and back injuries, Donald also has a team-high 21 tackles for loss.
The 38-35 result coincidentally matched the same score of the New England Patriots’ Week 17 victory over the Giants in 2008 to cap their undefeated season and moves the Panthers one step closer to doing the same at 14-0.
“I’m excited for our players who have been voted in”, said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. He has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week twice (Weeks 2 and 10) and has earned FedEx Air Player of the Week honors twice (Weeks 10 and 13) this season. He has added a career-high four interceptions, returning one for his first career touchdown. Members of the two Super Bowl teams don’t play in the Pro Bowl because it takes place in the week between the conference championship and the Super Bowl.
The Pro Bowl will continue using the revised game format that debuted with the 2014 Pro Bowl, with NFL Legends captains having final say over Pro Bowl Draft decisions.
