Sammy Watkins: Watkins wants Bills to be more accountable
Sal Maiorana doesn’t need to wait to watch the game tape. This isn’t new and certainly not just because of the quarterback’s spectacular performance in Sunday’s 35-25 win over the Buffalo Bills. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that McCoy has a torn MCL and is considered week-to-week, calling into question what benefit the Bills would maintain by not shutting down McCoy in a year without the playoffs. The Washington Redskins ground game is averaging 96.6 yards per contest, and Alfred Morris leads the way with 602 yards and one touchdown.
Even when the Bills had talent, they were known for disappointing. The disappointment never seems to end with this franchise.
Washington outgained Buffalo 257-93 in the first half and scored touchdowns on its first three possessions for the first time since September 19, 1999 (against the Giants).
On the season, the Philadelphia Eagles average 236.1 yards in passing and 115.7 yards in rushing.
“We need to forget about anybody’s feelings”.
The 27-year-old Cousins is in the midst of a career year that has seen him pass for 3,625 yards and 22 touchdowns while throwing just 11 interceptions. It’s not like we’re trying to switch plays. But any hopes for a rally were crushed when Jackson beat Corey Graham and Bacarri Rambo for his big touchdown that made it 28-3 and put the game out of reach. Just two entered October with their coaches listed by sports books as among the most likely to lose their jobs.
-RB Mike Gillislee had his best game as a pro. Karlos Williams and Michael Gillisee came in for an injured McCoy and helped move the ball down the field. Every coach in the league loves guys who can attack the quarterback.
On the one hand, you can’t deny that Cousins is playing lights-out ball right now and is the primary reason why the Redskins are rolling.
It might be a game between one eminently medioce team that’s 7-7 and another that’s 6-8, but Saturday night’s game that sees Washington travel to Lincoln Financial Field to square off against the Eagles has playoff implications. “But like you said, game in, game out, I don’t know how in the world that keeps happening”. “And we’ve got to take over as players”. Blown coverages, missed tackles, a facemask penalty. Cousins simply couldn’t be stopped by the Bills, who were without cornerback Stephon Gilmore on Sunday.
“Especially that team, they’re going extra linemen, sometimes two extra linemen, that maybe the plays don’t come in as fast as you want them to because you’ve got to match. And we can’t walk before we crawl, put it like that”, Williams said. I don’t think anybody envisioned that. He burned Washington Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland off the line of scrimmage, and he left safety Deangelo Hall in the dust as he sprinted into the right corner of the end zone to corral a 48-yard pass from quarterback Tyrod Taylor. And though sacked 31 times, including five Sunday, Taylor has lost only one fumble. No quarterback in the National Football League can take that many hits in a game and last. And the week after that, they play host to the New York Jets. He hurled a quartet of touchdown passes and ran for another to account for all of Washington’s points against the Bills. As for the EJ Manuel wildcat plays, stop, please, stop.
