Microsoft’s new ad for Windows 10 reiterates: ‘it’s familiar’
The whole Office Mobile pack, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as OneNote, Windows Calculator, Mail and Calendar, and Get Office receive these updates today, and all seem to bring fixes and optimizations, just as Microsoft promised last week.
The support range is not that different from previous versions of Windows, and the only difference is that the time period between support end dates of different versions of Windows has been reduced to two years from three years previously.
Perhaps most importantly, the Stores will assist users in upgrading their existing Windows 8.1 PCs, as well as new PCs that are Windows 10-ready, but don’t have Windows 10 installed on them yet. Microsoft is clear that the next incarnation of Windows is aimed squarely at people and making technology better than ever. The company is betting on staying power, pushing a full decade of updates for its newest OS.
As a result, many are expected to turn to third-party Start menu apps that would keep the Windows 7 interface and thus get rid of the all the modern elements that Microsoft released with much fanfare. During streaming, the console will continue to output audio and video to its connected output devices, but they don’t need to be switched on or set to the Xbox’s input channel.
For the Xbox One app on the Windows 10, users can open the app and tick the “Connect” icon. Every Windows 10 home user was already forced to download it. Hence, we could see the aforementioned feature being rolled out with the new update in October. It’s on Microsoft to show us they won’t screw this up.
A new button called “Task View” allows users to quickly switch between open files and new desktops they have created, making working in the operating system incredibly efficient. You can remote play Xbox One games on a PC, laptop or tablet running Windows 10.
Speaking of changes, Microsoft did mention before that Windows 10 will depart from the way it rolls out its operating systems.
