Miss Universe Exec: Steve Harvey “Absolutely” Welcome to Host in 2016
After what felt like hours of awkward silence, Harvey finally corrected his mistake and sadly de-crowned Miss Colombia in order to rightfully crown the victor, Miss Philippines.
“He disappeared as soon as everything went down”, Hilton said.
It’s not like Harvey is some nefarious guy who did something bad on the night of the pageant; he just made a silly mistake.
That’s what some are suggesting in the wake of what’s being called “Pageantgate”, when host Steve Harvey mistakenly read the name on the card wrong and initially said Miss Colombia, not Miss Philippines, was the victor on Sunday night in Las Vegas.
“My first thought was, wow, this is rigged”, Hilton said.
“Just like the homecoming we had for her when she won the Binibining Pilipinas title, we are looking forward on holding another one to our Miss Universe”, Moreno said. “I mean, that’s how my mind works”.
“[For] Colombia, that feeling of winning, you can see that she was crying of joy and then getting that taken away, but at the same time for Philippines, she really didn’t have that awesome victory”.
“That’s just humorous. All I can do is just laugh that off”, he said of the conspiracy theory.
“I don’t know if the people at home could see this, but Miss Colombia was being a straight-up diva bitch”, Hilton added.
Some are saying that Miss Colombia is still the real victor, but judge and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton disagreed. “Perhaps having Miss Colombia compete in our event with the chance of winning $25,000 or more”.
Hilton said that Arevalo was an early favorite but the way she acted while answering the second question-“Why do you think you deserve to win the Miss Universe crown?”-was a “major turn-off”.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos had immediately celebrated the win via Twitter, posting “Colombian women are the most attractive in the world!”
