Panthers’ Rivera: No more bat on field
“The Panthers carried a black baseball bat onto the field at MetLife Stadium for pregame warm-ups and, according to (Giants) sources, one of their players swung it menacingly at Beckham and others made homophobic comments to the Giants receiver prior to the game”, The Post reported.
Beckham received three personal foul penalties and it easily could have been more after throwing multiple punches toward Panthers cornerbacks Josh Norman and Cortland Finnegan and later spearing Norman with a dead-ball helmet-to-helmet hit that was flagged.
“A Giants source told ESPN’s Ian O’Connor Monday that Giants players on the field heard Panthers defensive players direct anti-gay slurs and expletives at Beckham before the game, and the source believes that also helped set the confrontational tone for the game”.
“But I keep hearing all these things that everybody else is saying”, Rivera said Tuesday. The likes of which I’ve never seen.

Ray Lewis has spoken to Odell Beckham Jr in the wake of the Giants wide receiver’s meltdown on Sunday, and Beckham apparently is aware that he crossed the line. The Panthers refute that claim, stating that the bat has always been a motivational symbol for the franchise this season. A fresh analysis shows Beckham’s suspension could boost the return of TCF Financial stock by as much as 7 cents a share, or roughly $12 million. If you are confused, so were the New York Giants. With the top seed in the NFC still up for grabs, Rivera is more concerned about his team’s struggles to close out games rather than resting players for the postseason or an undefeated season. Packers GM Ted Thompson on Tuesday signed Rick Lovato, a rookie from Old Dominion who served as the long snapper for all 50 games of his college career….
Cleveland Browns right guard John Greco will miss the final two games because of a knee injury.
