Considering Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ unparalleled $238 million opening weekend, it looks like Disney’s significant investment in Ford reprising his role as Han Solo was an easy one to make. Meanwhile, newbies Daisy Ridley and John Boyega netted salaries in the six-figure range, around $100,000 to $300,000.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher took home salaries in the low-seven-figure range, according to sources.
With this juggernaut just taking off under the Disney umbrella, it probably won’t be long until these new stars see Ford-like paydays, too. The salaries for the legacy stars are expected to rise with each film.
It is an ongoing trend nowadays in Hollywood especially with franchises where the actors get paid less in the first movie and they negotiate better deals in the sequels where they reprise their roles.
