Channing Tatum spammed Tarantino with emails to be in The Hateful Eight
Jackson, star of many Tarantino movies, introduced the writer-director as an artist without heavy hands: “He’s all about making films that make you happy”, Jackson said. As he accompanies a fugitive murderess to trial, the two get caught in a snowstorm while travelling through Wyoming.
First mooted on the back of Django Unchained in 2013, only for an early draft to leak online and put the whole project into doubt, The Hateful Eight has finally made its way to the big screen.
Tarantino was honoured in the presence of hundreds of fans and friends which included Zoe Bell, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Clifton Collins Jr, Walton Goggins, Pam Grier, Craig Stark, James Parks, director Edgar Wright and his close pal, Samuel L Jackson. Despite the over three hour running time, including intermission, the story and performances are so captivating that I didn’t notice. While this approach surely wouldn’t work for an unknown actor, I’m sure that Tarantino appreciated the courage and tenacity it took to grovel for a month long.
