Donald Trump on Hillary Clinton Insult: “Schlonged” Is Not a Vulgar Term
She went into a full-on, hands-to-face rant about Republican primary candidate Donald Trump and his potential Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. Bernie Sanders, gasping for airtime six weeks before the first round of primary voting.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump used a vulgarity to describe Hillary Clinton’s loss to Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic presidential race and then derided her over the time she took for a bathroom break during a debate.
The GOP front-runner argued with that definition on Twitter Tuesday.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, “schlonged” is a vulgar slang term for penis, originating from Yiddish. He stated that she got beaten, “Schlonged” was his exact word.
“While Clinton’s camp shot back that his words were “degrading language“, Trump on Twitter placed the blame on the “#MSM” (mainstream media) for giving “false meaning” to the term. “What happened to her?” When Trump called her a liar on the “Today” show and demanded an apology, her spokesman Brian Fallon said “hell no”. Where did she go?
Clinton did not address Trump s comments directly, but when a young woman at a campaign rally asked her what she would do about bullying, she used the opportunity to launch a not-so-veiled attack on her Republican rival. “Nice woman. I like her, I like her. I better like her – I may have to deal with her. Look, hey, Putin likes me, I want her to like me, too”. “By the way, I hate some of these people … and some of them are such lying, disgusting people, it’s true. Don’t say it, it’s disgusting”.
Mrs Clinton’s team urged supporters to denounce Mr Trump and his belittling remarks.
In an interview Tuesday with The Des Moines Register, Clinton said: “Nothing really surprises me anymore”. I don’t know who would be worse.
“His bigotry, his bluster, his bullying have become his campaign”.
Several news outlets have blasted Trump’s anti-Muslim immigration plan as bigoted, but the Philadelphia Daily News went as far as to compare him to Hitler on the front page. It’s not the first time he’s demonstrated a penchant for sexism. While on the mic, Trump ranted about how “disgusting” it was that Hillary Clinton may have needed a bathroom break ahead of last weekend’s Democratic debate. He says what others are afraid to say and that resonates with frustrated voters, especially the angry white middle class who don’t get the fact that Trump’s policies will spell their undoing.
