Astronauts aim to fix jammed rail auto during spacewalk
The rail vehicle needed to be moved so a cargo ship filled with almost 3 tons of food and supplies could dock at the orbiting space lab on Wednesday.
He will also monitor the spacewalk from inside the space station and keep in touch with mission control.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, Tim Peake recently made history as the first British astronaut to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) as a member of the European Space Agency (ESA).
Tim Peake has 14 GB of space on his music player, and has taken up tracks by Muse, U2, Coldplay, the Foo Fighters and – for some reason – Nickelback.
A special Christmas message has been sent to planet Earth all the way from the International Space Station.
He says his first impressions of space go way beyond his expectations.
Describing the missed call from space, Nigel Peake, from Westbourne, near Chichester, said: “It was quite surreal”.
Major Peake, 43, a former Army Air Corps officer and helicopter test pilot, spent most of the day helping two of his crewmates to embark on a space walk.
“Life up here is absolutely spectacular”, he said via video-link to the journalists gathered on solid ground, showing his not-so flawless weightless-conquering skills with a not so ideal back-flip. And he was looking forward to calling home on Christmas Day from this “wonderfully unique place to call friends and family from”.
Asked how he keeps fit in space, Major Peake said: “Our first sports session is going to be this afternoon, we have a cycling machine, a running machine and a weightlifting machine”.
You can watch the spacewalk live on NASA TV.
On social media he wrote: “The support for our launch was outstanding, and I want to thank each of you for the #GoodLuckTim messages”.
In an important step, NASA has ordered its second crew mission from Boeing Space Exploration for the International Space Station (ISS) to set up common crew sorties that shall be launched from United States soil.
Like many fans, Kelly’s Twitter feed has been full of “Star Wars” jokes and references over the last week.
