Aw Jeez! Things Get Bigger (And Bloodier!) in the New Fargo Trailer
FX has released the first full trailer for Fargo Season 2, which hints at a hidden agenda behind the so-called “botched robbery” and introduces some of the new characters.
The new season will happen in the late 1970s (the trailer has lots of Nixon references and ’70s music cues) in the fabled, frozen panorama of North Dakota and Minnesota.
And look at the cast they brought in! Come on. I can’t wait. Kirsten Dunst plays a beautician searching for a better self, but she and her husband (Jesse Plemons) ostensibly get mixed up in the violence between a local crime family and a new syndicate moving in from out of state. However, unlike True Detective or American Horror Story, Season 2 of Fargo will still have some connection to the series’ first outing, as it will center on Patrick Wilson as young Lou Solverson (a character that Keith Carradine originally played in Fargo’s first season).
It’s comforting to know, during these hot summer days, that Season 2 of Fargo awaits in October to not-so-gently ease us into the cooler seasons. Woodbine’s Mike Milligan says to Danson’s sheriff. Bulo and his crew have their sights set on the Gerhardt crime family in Fargo, now led by matriarch “Floyd Gerhardt” (Smart). “Bear Gerhardt” (Angus Sampson) is the middle son, an intimidatingly large man who, although inarticulate, is the most decent of his clan. The Fargo TV series even takes place in the same continuity as the Fargo film! Rye Gerhardt (Culkin), the youngest of the Gerhardt clan, views himself as a big shot, but in reality he’s just a small dog who barks big.
