NORAD prepares to track Santa’s journey
On Saturday he was at his usual place, the Holiday House, where kids laid out their Christmas wants, gave candy canes to their loved ones and had their photos taken. “For boys, this year it is remote control cars and Lego’s”, he said. I really wanted a bicycle so I could ride it back and forth to school and all around the neighborhood with my brothers and friends there in Lumberton.
I was about five years of age when my mother came in with a big book.
My gifts had continued to appear under the tree every Christmas morning, so I had decided that Saint Nick was a forgiving person or it had just slipped his mind that I had once assaulted him.
“I keep telling you, that’s not me”.
On Christmas Eve, my two brothers and I were so wound up we just couldn’t seem to go to sleep. According to the Gospels, this should be one of the most important days in all of Christendom as we celebrate the birth of a Savior.
Now, in a digital era marked by high-speed broadband and a variety of mobile devices, children – one and all – can track Santa Claus.
Many years ago when I first started school some of the kids told me there was no Santa Claus. I think he started over Thanksgiving.
As we see in the Doodle today, the elves and Santa are in the final stages of preparation, but, what’s this, a bug in the system? “My Christmas is when I am out with the police officers delivering toys to unsuspecting children”, he said. It was all I could do not to scream and yell but I didn’t want to wake up Mama and Daddy. She turned out the light in bedroom and closed the door fully, only to reopen it just a little bit so that a thin slice of hallway light seeped into my room. “Hey Santa, Mrs. Claus is waiting for you to hurry down the chimney tonight!”
“Can you hear it ringing, Mom?” she asked me with great enthusiasm. “And she said, well, I’ve got cancer”. “We wish all of our residents a truly special and safe festive season, and we’ll be taking last-minute letters for Santa right up until Christmas Eve”, Tracey says. Santa Claus can be thought of as a celebration of charity and aspiring toward good behavior and goodwill toward others.
On Christmas Eve, there will be a odd object in the sky – that could easily be mistaken for Santa’s sleigh. The idea of eternal life, seeing loved ones again, hearing your name read from The Book of Life, a heavenly choir with the sweetest of sounds, not to mention the most important thing of all, that is to see Him face to face, should be enough. I didn’t have a helper then.
