This was my destiny: Ariadna Gutierrez after Miss Universe flub

MISS Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez might have become the big victor when it came to promotion only at that year’s Miss Universe, but there is no doubt she’d be disappointed to overlook the prize bundle that was remarkable.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez may have had the Miss Universe crown taken away from her because of host Steve Harvey’s slip up, but she isn’t going to play the blame game. She mentioned how Miss Philippines must be feeling incredible and on top of the world.

Gutierrez also told RCN that she had received personal apologies from both the presenter and the Miss Universe organisation. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen.

During the coronation night on Monday morning (Philippine time), Harvey mixed up the result of the pageant as he announced that Miss Colombia won the Miss Universe pageant but later corrected his mistake announcing that Miss Philippines was the pageant victor. Miss Universe 2014, visibly disappointed, could not do anything but give the crown and sash to the 64th victor of Miss Universe. Harvey awkwardly apologised and explained the error on live TV while the crown was removed from Miss Colombia’s head and placed on a shocked and confused Miss Philippines.

Gutierrez spoke up about the incident at the Miss Universe event and thanked her supporters. “I feel bad”, he posted on Twitter. Miss Colombia was quickly stripped off her crown after humiliatingly wearing it for around four minutes, while millions helplessly watched the goof-up. Again it was an honest mistake… “He was so well intended, and he’s such a good guy, and it was really such a mistake that I hope people don’t hold this over him other than for just a good laugh and let it pass”. On Sunday, Harvey named Miss Colombia as this year’s Miss Universe after misreading the information on his cue card. “They were all unbelievable”. This year’s Miss Universe chose to take the fans worldwide to have a say in who gets crowned as Miss Universe.
