Fox Received The Most Golden Globe Nominations
The Golden Globe nominations, which will be announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Beverly Hills, California, on Thursday morning, are at the center of the drama surrounding the categorization of this year’s movies and actors.
It’s great to see Mad Max: Fury Road up for Best Picture (Drama) alongside expected choices like Carol, The Revenant, Room and Spotlight.
The nominees for best actress in a drama are Cate Blanchett (Carol), Brie Larson (Room), Rooney Mara (Carol), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn), and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
Alejandro Inarritu’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning “Birdman”, the frontier epic “The Revenant”, took four nominations, including best picture, drama, and best actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

In the feature film category, Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation received a nod for best lead actor in a drama (Idris Elba). Both The Revenant and Steve Jobs tied The Big Short, with each receiving 4 nominations. But its ensemble cast is struggling to stand out from the pack.

There were several other shocks in the small screen nods for the Best Drama accolade as “Mad Men” wasn’t recognised, although leading man Jon Hamm is up for Best Actor in a TV Drama series for his portrayal of Don Draper in the AMC show.
Netflix also made a breakthrough at the SAG nominations Wednesday earning 10 nods and overtaking HBO for the first time in a top awards context.
Monaghan actress Caitriona Balfe also garnered a nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series (Drama) for her role in “Outlander”, as did Eva Green for “Penny Dreadful”, which is filmed in Ireland. “Six shows that got the most nominations included “Fargo”, as well as “Mr. Robot”, Starz time travel romance “Outlander”, along with ‘Transparent”, and “American Crime”, as well as “Wolf Hall”.
