Very optimistic of Russian Federation visit outcome: Modi
The headquarters of this alliance will be in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said.
Another proposal that awaits Modi’s nod is Russia’s new offer on the delivery of Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) fighter jets to India under the joint fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) programme, according to the Indian Express. Apart from the bilateral discussions, the leaders are expected to discuss the conflict in Syria, and Russia’s decision to assist President Assad’s forces to fight IS. The top leaders of the two countries are expected to inked major agreements in the defence, economy and nuclear front.
Talks are also likely to touch upon the purchase of five advanced S-400 air-defense missile systems by India, which the country’s defense-acquisition panel approved last week. “We have outlined an ambitious vision for nuclear energy and construction of at least 12 reactors, which will have the highest safety standards in the world”, he added. The “depth and breath” of the relationship with Russian Federation could not be compared in those terms.
On Indo-Russia ties he said, “The relations between India and Russia are linked together through the water, land and sky”. “Sales from America may ebb and flow, but the sales from Russian Federation will remain strong because there are so many ongoing programs between the two countries”.
New Delhi has turned to Moscow as the U.S. firm General Electric and Westinghouse, a US-based unit of Japan’s Toshiba, are still weighing an entry into India’s nuclear energy sector because of a law that makes reactor suppliers liable in case of an accident. Both countries will also attempt to increase cooperation in science and technology, mining among other sectors. “Russian Federation remains one of India’s most valued friends in the world”, he said in his Facebook post. India has also said it is launching negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement with the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union bloc.
He hoped that India-Russia bilateral trade, though growing, will increase to $30 billion by 2025 and the investments to $15 billion each by 2025.
“Abhinandan” will have performances of Indian art forms (classical and folk dances) by Russian artistes. It will display the popularity of Indian cultural traditions in Russian Federation and its importance of inter-cultural understanding. And politically apart, the Russian citizens have shown considerable interest in the Indian traditions and India’s culture.
The prime minister presented the keys of the first retrofitted bus to the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan who was also present on the occasion. The NCMC is a multi-level coordination centre created to provide inter-agency coordination and alert the people about the threat of emergency situations. “Let’s wait and see what happens”.
“We will work with anyone the government nominates”, the official said.
