Rajya Sabha disrupted over Ram temple, DDCA row
He directed the senior officials to take all necessary measures to maintain communal harmony in the State.
“Such activities are being planned “only to charge up the atmosphere”, he said, quoting a reported statement by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das that there was a “signal” from the Modi government that the temple will be built “now”. To a question whether he would like to see a Ram temple in Ayodhya, he told reporters, “All countrymen want to see a Ram temple”.
This comment came from Naik’s side right after, two trucks of stones arrived in Ayodhya on Sunday. Stones have arrived and being kept in a private premises. “Second, both the government and the BJP firmly believe the court decision should be respected and we will respect it”, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
The VHP has categorically said that some statements attributed to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das that there were “signals” from the Modi government for temple construction were “false, baseless and misreported”. Opposition members entered the well of the House over the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s move to collect engraved stones for construction of the temple and transporting them to the temple town in Uttar Pradesh. Opposition speculation suggests that Mulayam Singh is under pressure because of corruption cases against him, but the fact remains that so far the state government has remained a mute spectator and allowed the trucks to be offloaded and the religious ceremony around the stones to be held. JD(U) President Sharad Yadav said though BJP tries to divide people on communal lines every time, “this time the people have understood their design”. Ram is our ideal whom some regard as god and some as a great man… “It is the SP which is politicising it. Ram temple is our commitment and we will build a huge temple”, said BJP’s Yogi Adityanath.
“We have thus made a decision to move forward with our agenda without any help”, he said.
The temple is being built on the place of Babri mosque that was demolished by the Hindu fanatics in India on December 6, 1992 as per directives by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Against the deteriorating communal environment, the construction of the Ram Mandir is again being brought back centre-stage by the VHP claiming the support of the centre.
