Indian PM Narendra Modi going to Russian Federation for annual summit
One of his key engagement would be the visit to state-of-the-art systems developed by Russians for relief and rescue during disasters and calamities. So far, 15 meetings have taken place alternatively in India and Russia with the 15th annual summit held in New Delhi during the visit of Mr Putin to India on December 11, 2014.
Tomorrow Modi and Putin will interact with a group of Indian and Russian CEOs in Kremlin.
He further said: “My visit will deepen the cooperation between India and Russian Federation in the economic, energy and security spheres”.
“There will be an interaction with Russian businesspersons to invite them to invest in India”.
With Russia’s economy badly hit by the Western sanctions in the wake of Ukraine crisis, Putin is keen to expand economic ties with India, which, in turn, has been expressing keen interest in participating in oil and gas exploration projects in the Eurasian country. “We anticipate these projects to be coordinated by next month”, he had said. In a renewed thrust on the economic front, India intends to treble the bilateral trade volume with its old ally, from current 10 billion dollars a year to 30 billion in next ten years. I will also attend a “Friends of India” programme.
As per convention, one should stand in attention when the national anthem is played.
Stating that India observes public holidays for important festivals of all major religions such as Holi, Diwali, Id, Christmas, Baisaki and Buddha Purnima, he said that these festivals remind people of the unity of mankind. The NCMC is a multi-level coordination centre created to provide inter-agency coordination and alert the people about the threat of emergency situations.
He also stated that there would be extensive deliberations with President Putin. “This was, perhaps, one of the first India-Russia annual Summits, a practice that goes on till date”, Modi stated. New Delhi will also discuss Free Trade Agreement with respect to Eurasian Economic Union, a Russia-led economic bloc comprising Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
Jaishankar said Modi’s talks in Moscow will also include nuclear cooperation.
On whether India will request Russian Federation to share details on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, he said the issue had figured during External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s recent visit to Moscow. “Our Constitution both guarantees and nurtures the diversities of our country”, he said in response to a question on how he manages to support and develop ethnic cultures and traditions.
