Clinton manages to hurt ‘sensitive’ Trump’s feelings
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump used a vulgarity to describe Hillary Clinton’s loss to Barack Obama for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination and then poked fun at her taking a bathroom break during a debate.
“But I would do my part as a citizen to promote the one who I think will get the job done”, she said. “I know where she went, it’s disgusting, I don’t want to talk about it”, he said. “We want to be very straight up, OK?”
Trump also criticized several other political opponents during his speech, including Obama and Sen. Lindsey Graham, who dropped his presidential bid earlier on Monday, and finishing with Obama.
Ahead of the event, Trump staffers worked the crowd, encouraging them to call up people on their Christmas card mailing lists and urge them to vote for Trump.
Trump took on widespread criticism when he appeared to mock a New York Times reporter with a disability last month, though Trump denied he was doing so. The protesters have become a somewhat expected presence at Trump’s rallies, with causes ranging from Black Lives Matter to immigration to protests about his racist rhetoric.
Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton’s communications director, clarified the candidate’s remarks Sunday on ABC News’ This Week with George Stephanopolous.
And a number of usually pro-Hillary fact-checkers agree: The Washington Post, the Associated Press and Politifact all branded her debate claim false. “We need to make sure that the really discriminatory messages that Trump is sending around the world don’t fall on receptive ears”, she said. It’s at least equally logical to state that Paris and San Bernardino will inspire more terrorist attacks and recruit more jihadists than anything Donald Trump has said.
Days after going toe-to-toe with Donald Trump on the debate stage, Jeb Bush seemed to relish his new role as the Republican front-runner’s chief critic while campaigning on Saturday in New Hampshire.
Still, Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon, asked Monday by MSNBC if Clinton would apologize to Trump, insisted, “Hell no”. Ask Bobby Jindal”, Trump said, according to CNN, adding: “Ask all of these guys that have gone out, do they enjoy running against Trump? “By the way, I hate some of these people… and some of them are such lying, disgusting people, it’s true. I would never do that”, Trump said at first, before reconsidering. Yet no one – not even those who track terrorism – has heard of any, let alone seen one.
