Montreal Impact say they’re “willing to accommodate” Didier Drogba, but want
Hiddink has refused to rule out a return to the club for former player Didier Drogba who was in the stands alongside him for the 3-1 win over Sunderland last week.
Since signing off a successful spell by winning the FA Cup with Chelsea in 2009, Hiddink has struggled in charge of Turkey, Russian club Anzhi Makhachkalka and most recently the Netherlands whom he failed to steer to the Euro 2016 finals.
“I could not finish that job and it was disappointing for me”, he said.
He said: “I shouldn’t be here halfway through the season because it means that things are not going well as foreseen at the beginning of the season. I think it’s always sad when people lose their job”.
Eden Hazard can return to top form and help move Chelsea up the table says boss Guus Hiddink ahead of the Premier League match with Watford. “But I also told them things happen in football and I want everyone to look themselves in the mirror, for not just a second but for a long time, to see what anyone from now on can contribute to the way up”.
“But anyhow I’m glad to be back”.
“We have to show to ourselves, to the club and to the fans that the team has a big desire to wash away the last half year and go up to the next coming games”, he said. “They have to look forward”.
“I respect what he did at many clubs; I don’t know how many, but he won titles everywhere, so a lot of respect for that”. “At this moment he is playing in Montreal but all clubs have figures who can be ambassadors, coaches, manager or whatever, and they need the opportunity to do so”.
Chelsea are confident they will succeed with a £30million bid for Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donestk, having been in talks since October.
After Jose Mourinho was sacked last week, the 69-year-old Hiddink was brought back for a second spell as manager until the end of the season.
“Mathematically it’s possible, but this league is very tough”.
Speaking in a press conference, the Dutchman said: “He has an wonderful record over the years”.
Guus Hiddink has praised Didier Drogba but said it would be down to Chelsea officials to determine whether the Montreal Impact striker can join his coaching staff.
Let’s see if Hiddink’s positivity can rub off on the under-performing stars and kick-start a Chelsea revival.
“Whatever has happened (with Mourinho) stays in the past and now we want to work hard with the new manager to get a good result against Watford”.
