Dominic’s VIPIR Forecast: Tracking showers and warm temps as we approach Christmas
Christmas Day will start in the 60s, with falling temperatures during the afternoon with a chance of rain by early evening. These aforementioned impulses are, simply put, pockets of rising air that help develop rain and thunderstorms. Also, heavy downpours may lead to localized flooding.
Today (Wednesday): Occasional showers are likely today as a warm front moves through, with a few areas of moderate to heavy showers possible. The low will not happen until just before midnight Christmas Eve and I expect the temperatures in the mid to upper 50’s. The timing for the Wednesday event is somewhat uncertain, so keep checking our broadcasts and social media accounts for the latest.
The rain and gusty wind affecting parts of San Diego County are expected to ease up later Wednesday morning, but a second storm system is set to hit Christmas Eve and very high tides will pound the coast through Christmas Day.
It will be mostly sunny on Christmas with highs in the mid-40s.
While there is no chance of snowfall this Christmas with this record-breaking warmth, plenty of precipitation will be falling in the days before, during, and after Christmas. The warmer, but tranquil weather conditions will persist through next Monday. Storms are more likely to happen tonight with lows in the lower 60s. Hopefully you will be with family and friends – even if your AC is on.
