Bieber: Fans should back rival charity song in UK No. 1 race
Justin Bieber does not want to be Christmas Number One – and has called on his followers to support the NHS Choir’s charity single instead.
The NHS Choir have crept up on Justin Bieber in the battle for the Christmas number one, but it looks like the Biebs is ready to surrender for charity.
“I’m hearing this U.K. Christmas race is close…but the [NHS Choir] single is for charity”, Bieber tweeted Wednesday.
Once they heard what Bieber has done, the NHS choir and the charities that will benefit from sales of “A Bridge Over You” tweeted messages of gratitude to the singer.
Wishing good luck to the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir, he added: “Let’s do the right thing and help them win”.
He even put a link to download the song, so it’s obvious that he means it.
However, Justin Bieber and the NHS Choir are not the only competitors.
The song’s video was filmed at University Hospital Lewisham, and shows NHS staff, including many members of the choir, providing front-line services for patients.
Bieber is set to dominate the top three regardless of whether he gets the prime position.
Meanwhile, Stormzy’s single is also gaining traction, having managed to climb to number seven, backed by a big online campaign pushing #ShutUpForXMasNo1.
A Bridge Over You is a mash-up of Coldplay’s Fix You and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel.
“It was supposed to be something that signifies us”.
“We’re keeping our eyes peeled”.
The much-anticipated race will end at midnight on Christmas Eve, with the results being announced by 1pm on Christmas Day.
