Colombians Worried About Miss Universe Runner-Up’s Mental Health After Blunder
Miss Universe pageant has now become rather boring and the coveted event has lost its charm in the past few years but this year the pageant was on every network, thanks to a major goof-up by the show’s host, Steve Harvey.
He accidentally crowned Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez-Arévalo instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, proceeded to announce his mistake and have the crown ripped from one contestant to another, yada yada yada, it was very bad. “For me Miss France as the real victor”, she said in an interview uploaded to Facebook page Missosology.
Miss Colombia might have enjoyed one of the shortest reigns in Miss Universe history, but at least this year people will remember the runner up.
Now, a source tells ET that Harvey missed a crucial part of the Miss Universe rehearsals.
Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was crowned by Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega and the new queen glided down the stage for her victory walk, waving at crowd.
But as the crown first went to Miss Colombia, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos celebrated the win via Twitter, posting, “Colombian women are the most handsome in the world!”
Clearly mortified at his mistake, Harvey, who was hosting the competition for the first time, immediately apologised for his error after the award ceremony closed.
Radulovic’s statement seemed to counter a behind-the-scenes Snapchat which went viral minutes after the announcement which saw Harvey complaining to the producer that it was Miss Colombia who won the pageant. Congratulations Miss Universe 2015 Adriana Gutierrez!
The controversy surrounding the pageant is yet to settle down, with Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek slamming the result.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Pia’s crown could be taken away? I hope that you can forgive me. “You both represented well for your countries, families and yourselves”.
