Despite backlash, Trump’s Muslim travel ban resonates with supporters
Donald Trump’s personality, his appeal and his divisive policies have reincarnated the likes of George C. Wallace, Bull Conner, Joe McCarthy, David Duke, etc. “The Donald” appeals to the worse side of us.
They hear U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan say, “This is not conservatism”, and British Prime Minister David Cameron call it, “Quite simply wrong”.
As she’s working the counter at a hole-in-the-wall hot dog stand named Rosie’s in upstate South Carolina, Tracy Hooker isn’t interested in debating the merits of Donald Trump’s proposal to temporarily block Muslims from coming into the United States.
Trump also said that he wants to discover why terrorists have “total hatred” for the U.S. Hey, no offense, but I barely know who you are.
“I’m scared and I have children and grandchildren and I hope things get better so things get back to how they used to be”, Hood said. I’ve watched people who have no reason to be intimidated change their behavior for fear of having the Trump treatment – being called a maniac or a loser or having a history of behavior that doesn’t change, you know, like pedophilia, as he insinuated about Ben Carson. He modestly condemned them, and I thought it was sort of inappropriate that he condemned them, but that’s OK. I went up and introduced myself to you.
I haven’t made my official decision as to whom I like as the GOP nominee but regardless, this is another in a long line of infamous statements from Donald Trump that whether intentional or unintentional has gotten the ire of the media and politicians of all stripes.
“I’m not going to bet the bank on a swing voter saying ‘You know…”
After the initial public uproar, Trump quickly clarified that he did not mean to include US citizens in the ban and was referring only to foreigners.
He instead said he believed he would make a “very popular” president.
“I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people’s views on what Islam really is”, Ali said. “But then you’re just not going to have a deal”. Cruz now has the support of 31 percent of Iowa Republicans and Trump has 21 percent, with the remaining Republican candidates far behind.
“I have many friends at the highest level. It is a point of common cause”, said Stephen Vladeck, a law professor at American University in Washington. “They’re waiting for the next attack”.
” “Again, my relationship with the Muslim community is excellent”. In other words, Trump’s unfiltered bigotry puts anti-p.c. warriors like French in a bind, forcing them to police Trump’s speech for its political expediency-to practice political correctness-while simultaneously conveying enough Islamophobia to appear open to the “hard truths” (read: forms of bigotry) that underwrite the popular backlash against political correctness. The question I would ask is: “Is it morally right to allow people to come into this country at a time that ISIS is trying to infiltrate what (President Barack) Obama wants to let in?” He tells these lies with no proof and repeats them after reputable news outlets and reporters have said this is not true.
