Seized Audio Clips Implicate Arvind Kejriwal’s Officer in Corruption: CBI
A private criminal complaint has been filed against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a Delhi court for using “defamatory” words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the recent CBI raid at the office of his Principal Secretary.
According to the investigating agency, five voice recordings have been recovered from the email account of Rajendra Kumar, purportedly carrying his oral instructions to allegedly influence contracts in favour of Endeavour Systems.
It also fixed hearing on the issue of possible action against CBI officials for January 6.
MP Maheish Girri on Thursday said the seizing of audio clips from the office of Rajendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is “just a trailer”, as many more such revelations would be made in future. The AAP has accused Finance Minister Arun Jaitley of alleged financial irregularities in Delhi & District Cricket Association during his tenure.
Soon after the CBI raided the office and residence of the accused, Kejriwal claimed that the attack was actually directed at his office.
“Kumar’s voice samples have been taken and are being matched with the audio clips”, the official added.
The application, filed by the Delhi government through standing counsel Rahul Mehra and Richa Kapoor, urged the court to direct the CBI to release the documents to the government seized “indiscriminately” by the CBI which are not related/essential for the objective of investigation in the case. Government sources said that the second note was an amendment to what had been presented in Monday’s cabinet meeting.
A case has been registered against Kumar for allegedly favouring a private company in five contracts worth Rs 9.5 crore during 2007-14.
