Record-Shattering Warmth Expected for Christmas Eve
We dealt with several severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches, but thankfully the worst of the weather stayed well to the north of our viewing area. That day, we could see areas of heavy rain through the day, so have that umbrella handy. Sunday’s highs will be in the upper-30s.
SANTA’S RIDE: Wondering about the weather for Santa’s trip tonight.
Most of the Arklatex will stay clear Wednesday night. Santa will not have to deal with severe weather, but he still may have to dodge raindrops.
The weekend looks drier for now with only isolated showers. It will be mainly cloudy, but very warm. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine Christmas Eve with highs climbing back into the mid to upper 70s. We get a lull in the action before another lines of showers moves through this afternoon.
Skies are mostly cloudy, and that continues through the day with south winds around 5-10 miles per hour. Most of that will fall Sunday and Monday.
Discussion: A large upper low and abundant surface moisture will combine to bring showers and storms through Christmas Eve. We could see a slight chance for some more rain New Year’s Day. If it gets that warm, Tallahassee could break its Christmas high-temperature record of 80, set in 1984.
Thanks to a strong southwesterly push of warm air, temperatures remain well above average.
