Latinos shred Hillary Clinton over ‘abuela’ pandering fail
From Jeb Bush’s early visit to Puerto Rico to Marco Rubio’s brandishing of his heritage credentials, candidates on both party tickets want to prove that they’re aware of and sensitive to the particular interests of this demographic group.
A recent blog post on her website, originally titled “7 ways Hillary Clinton is just like your abuela”, touts the presidential candidate’s grandmotherly qualities in a clear attempt to impress would-be Latino supporters.
But a post on Clinton’s website labeled “7 things Hillary Clinton has in common with your abuela” – the Spanish word for grandmother – appears to have backfired on Twitter. They’re using the hashtag #NotMyAbuela to tell the Clinton she isn’t much like the grandmothers they grew up with. Critics accused of Clinton of “Hispandering”-pandering to a Latino audience-by trying to trot out linguistic and cultural touchstone bona fides”.
Hillary Clinton’s original post went viral, but not in the way she hoped.
Hillary is grandmother to 15-month-old Charlotte, and the Clintons’ daughter Chelsea revealed Monday that she’s pregnant with her second child.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign on social media has expanded to include blog posts written by content strategists and a plethora of hashtags.
Even more so, the politically correct, highly sensitive culture the left created blasted Clinton’s campaign post for stereotyping.
