California gas prices still falling as crude oil costs nosedive

The lowest average gas price was in Rock Hill at $1.71 while the highest was at Hilton Head at $1.92. AAA estimates that the lower price of gasoline throughout 2015, compared to 2014, has saved Americans $115 billion, or approximately $550 for every licensed driver.

Nevertheless, said Doney, “The lowest gas prices in almost seven years are a holiday gift that few consumers could have imagined when gasoline was $4 a gallon”.

The average price in Pennsylvania is $2.20 a gallon.

“Here in Greater Cincinnati and across the country, drivers can celebrate lower gas prices this holiday season”, said Cheryl Parker, spokeswoman for Cncinnati’s AAA office.

With crude oil prices under $35 a barrel, a key beneficiary of cheap energy is consumers.

Despite that increase, Monday’s prices in the Springs were down 14.3 percent or 30.3 cents from the same time past year, according to GasBuddy’s report. The savings at the pump will provide added relief to the more than 91 million Americans who plan to drive 50 miles or more during the holiday period, AAA says.

Analysts expects prices to continue to fall over the next month as refineries operate near full capacity and flood the gasoline market.
