Chudzinski promises more creative play-calling for Colts
The Eagles lost a member of their practice squad Thursday, as quarterback Stephen Morris signed to the Indianapolis Colts’ 53-man roster.
The 40 year old quarterback was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice, but should once again receive his 6th consecutive start in relief of starting quarterback Andrew Luck.
Now Hasselbeck is getting another opportunity to turn around a team that has averaged 12.0 points – including one defensive touchdown – and 250.7 total yards during the team’s slide after it had put up 25.3 points and 349.8 yards per game while winning six of its previous nine.
Morris was signed to the practice squad September 23, two days after being waived. Morris originally signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2014. He spent the 2014 season on the Jaguars’ practice squad before being elevated to the active roster for the final two games of the season. There’s a chance Luck returns at some point this season, but he’s already been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup against the Dolphins. The throws have been there, but we haven’t been calling them.
“I think for me I’ve had this mindset of, ‘Hey just don’t screw it up”. He was activated before the game against the Falcons and played in the next four games before again missing last week’s game with a knee injury.
In a corresponding move, rookie cornerback D’Joun Smith was placed on injured reserve. Both wideouts have accrued over 100 targets this season, and, in all honesty, using Hilton as more of a deep threat with Moncrief taking on more of a chain-moving role seems to be working.
Hasselbeck is expected to play through several injuries as the visiting Colts try to avoid their longest skid in four years Sunday against the struggling Miami Dolphins.
