Woman dies while being forcibly removed from hospital
Mallory said that the officer who arrested Dawson removed the handcuffs after she collapsed and escorted her back into the hospital. But family members told the Democrat the nursing staff “banned” her from the hospital.
But Dawson’s family says she wasn’t ready to leave because she was still in pain.
Staff called the police at 4.45am on Monday who arrived at the center and arrested Dawson for disorderly conduct and trespassing.

The patient walked out of the ED under her own power, escorted by our officer. She still didn’t respond. The Medical Examiner’s office said. He said that doctors thought Dawson was stable and should be released. The death was because of a pulmonary saddle embolus, or a blood clot in the lungs related to Dawson’s obesity. “They bought a stretcher out there and took her back in the hospital”. “They did everything they could”.
Doctors re-admitted her, but a short time later, she died.
Medical staff came to the patrol vehicle and took Ms. Dawson’s vital signs.
“The most reasonable thing to do is to let her sit there and be able to settle down until she felt well”.
“Even the early facts should cause grave concern for her family”, Darryl Parks, of the law firm Parks and Crump, told the paper, “but also grave concern for the public”.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced it has taken over the investigation into Dawson’s death.
Dawson was the second of nine children.
Tallahassee attorney Daryl Parks is representing Dawson’s family. Dawson had a long history of breathing problems, visiting area hospitals 22 times since 1987.
The CEO of the twenty-five-bed hospital insisted that the staff did everything they could for Barbara Dawson. “Our staff was very aggressive with her treatment”.

The NAACP held an emergency meeting on Tuesday to consider the incident. He says they won’t have final answers until autopsy results come in. Landry told the Associated Press he and others “strongly believe the death was due to negligence by the police department and hospital”.
