Scott Weiland died of an accidental drug overdose, say officials
Weiland was found dead on his tour bus on December 3 during a Minnesota tour stop.
The medical examiner issued a statement revealing the cause of Weiland’s death as “mixed drug toxicity: cocaine, ethanol and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA)”. Asthma, heart disease, and Weiland’s history of addiction were also factors.
Scott Weiland – who died in the age of 49 – rose to fame with his rock band Stone Temple Pilots back in 1990’s.
Along with other bands led by Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots in the early 1990s helped create the genre of grunge rock that is known for distorted guitar and often grim introspection.
Wildabouts guitarist Nick Maybury has posted more comments on his bandmate Scott Weiland’s tragic death in the last few days on Twitter in response to mourning fans. It’s what made you who you were. “No one in the band believes that Scott died in his sleep”. “His artistry will live on, of that, there is no doubt”. The man has been released. According to the Associated Press, Bloomington Deputy Police Chief Mike Hartley said authorities won’t pursue a drug charge against Black because it would be too hard to prove the drugs belonged to him.
It is believed the 2003 break-up of Stone Temple Pilots was in part because of his stints in rehab and drug-related arrests.
He was jailed in 1999 for violating his probation after being convicted of heroin possession in 1998, and four years later was sentenced to three years’ probation for drug possession.
