Lindsey Graham Drops Out Of Republican Presidential Bid
Lindsey Graham has officially exited the race for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, and despite leaving behind a measly 0.4 percent national polling average, there were some Graham supporters left.
“Today, I’m suspending my campaign for president”, Graham said in a video posted on YouTube.
The latest polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, and SC never gave the Graham campaign much to brag about.
Polls showed that Graham, a three-term Senator from SC, wasn’t well known outside his home state.
Graham’s poor poll numbers have disqualified him from taking part in the previous five major Republican presidential debates.
Graham says that was the “centerpiece” of his campaign – which he says also brought forward ideas about retiring the nation’s debt and fixing the immigration system. With Graham out, influential South Carolina Republicans who have been loyal to him can begin making new choices among the remaining candidates (a total of 11 were on the stage in Las Vegas last week for a pair of debates televised by CNN).
Throughout his campaign, Graham has argued for more troops on the ground in the Middle East to combat ISIS.
“While I am not prepared to make an endorsement, I will continue to speak out in support of candidates who share my commitment to defeating ISIL & solving our nation’s most hard problems”.
He’s picked up such a small level of support in the presidential race, South Carolina Republican Sen.
“Lindsey is a good guy, a very amusing guy”, Rubio said. His solution to gridlock in Washington: “We’re going to drink more”.
Amen. That’s the Lindsey Graham we’ll miss.
Donald Trump, who Graham frequently charged was a disaster for the GOP, returned the feeling on Monday at a rally in MI.
“At that time, no one stepped forward to join me”, Graham said, but added, “today, most of my fellow candidates have come to recognize this is what’s needed to secure our homeland”.
