Justice Department drops its case against Barry Bonds

The government’s pursuit of Bonds ended quietly with a one-paragraph motion by the U.S. Department of Justice announcing Solicitor General Donald B. “I was a celebrity child, not just in baseball by my own instincts”. Though the 9th Circuit’s ruling exposed confusion over the federal obstruction of justice law, it was not a good candidate for review by the U.S. Supreme Court because it generated four different opinions. The government dismissed those counts in August 2011, and the 9th Circuit barred a retrial on the obstruction charge, citing double jeopardy.

“Throughout this process my faith in God, along with so many who have supported me, is what has kept me going”, Bonds said in his statement, thanking fans who had backed him and his legal team. I became a celebrity child with a famous father.

Despite that, he has not come close to being elected into the Hall of Fame due to his PED ties. “I just don’t get into other people’s business because of my father’s situation, you see”.

Bonds has already served his sentence of one month of home confinement and 250 hours of community service. But he was caught in the middle of baseball’s BALCO performance-enhancing drug scandal in the early 2000s.
