Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck hopeful to practice this week
Once Andrew Luck gains medical clearance to practice and return to the playing field, there’s no increased risk of the Indianapolis Colts quarterback re-injuring the kidney that’s kept him out of the last four games.
Without Luck, the Colts have turned to 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck, who is 4-2 as the starter.
“So, immobilizing the arm helps with the spasms”, Pagano said.
Hasselbeck will probably rest on Wednesday and try to practice on Thursday.
Situational football, including third down, is something that certainly has to improve for the Colts.
Colts coach Chuck Pagano said he had “not heard anything from our trainers or doctors” on Luck practicing this week.
Jacksonville (5-8) is still alive in the division, now just a game back of the Colts and 1 1/2 games behind the Texans, who play host to the Patriots Sunday night.
Coach Chuck Pagano said Monday that he had nothing new to report about Luck’s availability.
Luck was asked about how prepared he would be if cleared to practice and play in a game over the next couple of weeks. If Luck isn’t practicing on Wednesday, I fully expect him to be out on Sunday. I’m grateful that these guys hung tough, stuck with it and came out the way they practiced.
Luck had another extensive throwing session Monday and re-affirmed his belief that he’ll be back for at least one of the three remaining regular-season games, but stopped short of saying he could be ready to play against the Texans. He is not going to make the issues suddenly disappear. “Everybody counted us out, everyone is off the bandwagon, we’ve got nothing to lose, just win”. He had one punt downed inside the Jaguars’ 20-yard line. The offense executed on nearly every level, and they all pushed forward despite early struggles.
The NFL seems to think the Jaguars are going to beat Atlanta Sunday to stay in the playoff race.
Adding on to the red zone woes, Indianapolis has not been converting on third-down the past two games either.
-COACHING: A. With two losses in a row to two-win teams, the Jaguars’ season was in danger of spiraling out of control and that could have cost head coach Gus Bradley his job.
Kenyan-born linebacker Daniel Adongo, a former Super League rugby union player, was ruled out by the Indianapolis Colts for Sunday’s NFL game at Jacksonville following a police investigation.
The Jaguars defense pummeled Colts quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who was knocked out of the game twice. When teams do break the half-century barrier, it’s usually the result of an exceptional individual performance; in 26 of the NFL’s 36 50-point games since 2006, the high-scoring team’s primary passer posted a score of 90 or better on Total QBR’s 0-to-100 scale, where 50 is average. “From what I understand with an internal organ, you have two kidneys, so you can’t play with one that’s bum”. That gave the Colts a 13-3 lead with 1:56 left in the half, but from that point on, Jacksonville outscored the visitors 48-3.
42 in the second half alone. The first was an 80-yard march in eight plays that finished with a 4-yard pass to wide receiver Allen Robinson.
