Michael Irvin on Odell Beckham: “Everybody goes after him with gay slurs”
Beckham’s appeal of the suspension will be heard Wednesday.
NEW YORK Odell Beckham Jr.is going to have to serve his one-game suspension.
Before Wednesday’s hearing on his appeal, Beckham used Twitter to apologize for his on-field behavior last week. “I wasn’t raised to act like I did the other day”, Beckham said in a statement issued by the Giants on Wednesday.
“I think that’s any athlete’s mindset”, Osweiler said.
An altercation with Ball was caught on video, but clearly wasn’t an excuse for Beckham conducting himself so wildly during the game.
“I’ve seen some of the clips, but honestly they’re benign”, Rivera said, according to the Charlotte Observer. This is about my behavior, and I am responsible for my behavior. “People expect better from me, and I expect better from myself”. It’s also unclear if any fines are coming for the Panthers brandishing a baseball bat near the Giants’ sidelines, or for any of the homophobic slurs that were hurled at Beckham in the pre-game, as several Giants sources alleged on Monday.
Beckham was suspended for New York’s game Sunday against Minnesota, but Norman did not face a suspension. They’re probably going to send me something about that… but I’m going to appeal it, and I’m going to get my justified case about the whole situation.
Wing was within earshot of Beckham during warmups at MetLife Stadium and said he heard Ball tell Beckham: “I’ll be the reason you don’t play today….” They want to be proud of us, and proud of players like me who represent their team. He was wrong. There’s no doubt about it. You’d like that that didn’t happen, but the fact of the matter is …
Coughlin thinks Odell Beckham is getting “unfair” treatment.
Carolina coach Ron Rivera, when told about Wing’s comments regarding Ball, said, “That’s one guy”. Norman was called for two personal foul penalties in the 38-35 Panthers win.
Beckham also apologized to the kids who look up to him, and to the parents who have to explain to their kids why Beckham acted the way he did. “You know, once you get your feet on the field, you don’t want to go back to the bench, if you will”.
But Beckham wasn’t the only one on the hook for the chippiness of Sunday’s game.
Despite the criticism, many Giants, including coach Tom Coughlin, stood up for their teammate after the game, saying that though his actions were wrong, Beckham was provoked before the game even started.
