Drew Brees plans to play on Sunday despite plantar fascia tear
Brees is dealing with a tear of his plantar fascia near his heel.
METAIRIE, La. – Quarterback Drew Brees isn’t the only player on the New Orleans Saints in jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
No members of the New Orleans Saints have been picked for the NFL’s Pro Bowl squad.
“I’m playing it safe for now”, he said.
According to the report, Saints head coach Sean Payton said, “We’re kind of taking it day by day. We’re going into the game with the mindset that Drew will play”. “He is smart enough and will understand each day the progression he is making”. So it’s hard to predict whether either player could miss Sunday’s game. “But we’ve come up with a good plan for this week, how to support it and how to make it as manageable as possible”, Brees said.
Yet, even with the Saints eliminated from playoff contention, Brees doesn’t want to start resting just yet.
This news comes as no surprise to the Jaguars who have been preparing all week as if they will see Brees under center on Sunday in New Orleans.
With Brees out, quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Garrett Grayson split reps. Players on the two Super Bowl teams do not take part in the game and other players often drop out of the game due to injury. He is now ranked fourth in the National Football League in passing with 4,135 yards and last Monday extended his National Football League record streak of 4,000-yard seasons passing to 10.
