Mel Gibson to get lifetime honor
According to the source, at the 49TH edition of the European Film Festival, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Mel Gibson will get the lifetime achievement honor.
The organizers on Tuesday confirmed the news that Gibson will get the award in the festival which will happen in Czech Republic on the very next week. The actor, director and producer had gained his name worldwide and now he will get the highest award of the European Film Festival. Gibson has made his name internationally known for playing the protagonist role in 1979 George Miller’s action movie ‘Mad Max’. The 2006 film, Apocalypto which won 3 Oscar nominations was produced, co write and directed by the actor. The movie depicts about the downfall of the ancient Mayan Empire and it was shot in real language, indigenous.
The festival will feature the special screening of his most recognized film Apocalypto.
As per tradition of the festival there will also a short humorous film which will feature the distinctive crystal award. Others celebrity guests who will be attending the festivals are Hollywood actress Lauren Dern who will be present for the screening of ‘Wild at Heart’, David Lynch film. French actress Fanny Ardant will be presenting her third film ‘Cadences obstinees’ in the festival. Director Debra Granik will be screening her Academy Award nominee ‘Winters Bone’.
Other directors like Bong Joon ho and Andrei Zvyaginstev will also be screening their film in the festival. Gibson who will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Honor has not yet expressed his views regarding the matter but sources said his fans and friends are enthralled after the news break worldwide. The 49TH Edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place between 4 to 12 July. The festival would be eye catching for the worldwide audience.
