Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos reacts to Miss Universe blunder
The Miss Universe pageant and comedian Steve Harvey are still apologizing on Monday for an excruciating mistake he made on the 2015 Miss Universe pageant he hosted Sunday night.
Steve Harvey made a major mistake at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant when he announced the wrong victor, and everyone involved is still dealing with the sad aftermath.
Harvey read the card wrong, confuses the verdict and announces Miss Colombia as the victor. Now, she and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, who was the actual victor, are not on speaking terms, Wurtzbach told Entertainment Tonight backstage at the Hollywood hotel-casino in Las Vegas.
Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega then took the crown from Ariadna, and passed it on to Pia.
But Pia reveals that it’s been very tough for Miss Colombia. “I was confused. I wasn’t sure what was going on”, Wurtzbach said.
Showing the card to the camera, he says, “I will take responsibility for this”.
“Adriana Gutierrez was Miss Universe for four and a half minutes”, Colombia’s Caracol news network headlined a story about the bungle on the front page of its website.
We at TheCelebrityCafe.com feel for Miss Colombia’s embarrassment and pain, but we just had to laugh along at these reactions to Harvey’s Miss Universe gaffe. Our sincerest apologies to Miss Universe Colombia, Miss Universe Philippines, their families and fans.
Even Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos consoled Gutierrez through Twitter, saying that for Colombians, she will always be their Miss Universe. She expressed gratitude to the enthusiasts who supported her in her Miss Universe journey.
Social media is abuzz with opinions on Miss Germany’s statements with many people believing that she is critical of Miss Philippines as she has a German last name Wurtzbach.
