Guus Hiddink warns under-performing Chelsea charges
The Dutchman was announced as the Blues interim boss last week following the departure of Jose Mourinho and he’s now been handed the task of salvaging something from what’s been a disastrous season for the defending champions so far.
Hiddink refused to rule out the possibility of his second spell as Chelsea manager lasting beyond next May.
Flores added: “We know we are on a good run but the feeling I have in the dressing room is that it’s no surprise”.
“I told them things happen in football, and I want everyone to look in the mirror, not just for two seconds, but longer”.
“And see what anyone can contribute from now on to raise us up”. The team know they need to show for the new manager. “They have to look forward”. He has demanded desire from his players. If you don’t have that desire, please knock on my door and we’ll talk – we’ll talk briefly.
The Montreal Impact are trying desperately to convince star striker Didier Drogba to play for them next season rather than go back to struggling Chelsea FC, but admit the decision is out of their control.
‘He had a terrific season a year ago and its normal to have a little setback, ‘ he said. “But I am glad to be back”. “First, I would like to get through the first few games”.
“The players at that time were also big players and were leaders”. Let’s give the kid time to settle and practise with the academy first and then with us. I will see what will happen.
When asked if he would consider seeking the full-time job himself, Hiddink replied: “We spoke about until the end of the season”.
The 69-year-old wants Chelsea to locate the strutting self-assurance that underscored last season’s league title charge, to guide the Blues away from relegation conflict.
New Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink insists he will not hesitate to axe any of his players that lack the desire to perform. Massimiliano Allegri and Antonio Conte are now the back-up options, but both of the Italians would represent a big risk as they have never worked outside of their native country. In this vein, the club’s officials are tracking a host of big-name players to come on to help revitalize their campaign this season.
