Morgan Named to Biletnikoff Watch List
Brendel was named to the Pac-12’s All-Academic First Team in 2014, and yesterday he was nominated for the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes college football players “who exemplify a superior commitment to community service and volunteerism”.
For Jones, it is his second preseason designation following his selection to the Paul Hornung Watch List (most versatile player in major college football) on July 6. A 2015 Phil Steele Preseason All-Independent selection, Mathews led BYU in receiving with 73 receptions, 922 yards and nine touchdowns.
For his career, the Warhawk wide receiver has tallied 2,098 receiving yards and sits in seventh place in the career record book (career leader: Stepfret Williams, 3,177 yards, 1992-95).
The versatile Grant enters his senior season as a dual threat at both wide receiver and in the kick return game.
Fuller – a 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver from Philadelphia – was left off the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which honors college football’s top receiver, throughout his breakout sophomore campaign, in which he caught 76 passes for 1,094 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 14.4 yards per reception. Conference players on the watch list are Ohio State’s Michael Thomas, Penn State’s DaeSean Hamilton, Rutgers’ Leonte Carroo and Wisconsin’s Alex Erickson.
Sperbeck caught all 51 of his passes over the final 10 games of the season in 2014. Willoughby is one of seven MAC receivers on the list.
UC opens the 2015 season on Saturday, September 5 against Alabama A&M with a 7 p.m. ET kickoff. College Football Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy victor Desmond Howard will present the 2015 Biletnikoff Award victor on the show.
The watch list will be trimmed to 10 semifinalists by November 16, and then down to three finalists by November 24. The victor is announced at the college football awards show on December 10.
