International Space Station to make low pass over Christmas rooftops
Weather permitting the astronauts on the International Space Station will be passing over the United Kingdom today and can be passed off as Santa on his sleigh going about his important work.
If they hadn’t fixed the problem, a Russian Progress cargo ship carrying almost three tons of food and supplies would not be able to dock as scheduled on Wednesday.
‘Good news! It appears to have reached the work site, ‘ astronaut Mike Hopkins in Mission Control said shortly after the rail auto was moved.
Father Christmas has promised to fly over the night sky for children this Christmas Eve, roughly the same time the International Space Station will be visible.
It was the seventh spacewalk of the year. Two hits performed by space station commander Scott Kelly helped to move cart forward.
“This is a team effort”, Kelly said. We’d popped out for about an hour to see our daughter who lives nearby, came home to an answerphone message, “Hello, this is your son from the International Space Station“. Kopra also retrieved some tools stored on the side of the station for a future spacewalk.
Since then, Russian Federation and Canada have made similar commitments, and ESA (European Space Agency) is moving the station extension proposal through its ministerial-level approval process.
Peake is the first Briton aboard the space station, and the first fully British professional astronaut employed by a space agency.
Most importantly though, Major Peake and his friends orbiting the Earth at 17,500mph WILL get a Christmas dinner.
