Eddie Redmayne and wife Hannah Bagshawe at the premiere of his new movie The Danish Girl.
The Sun report Eddie and his wife ‘are delighted and extremely excited.
The Oscar-winning actor is going to be a dad for the first time with Hannah after the couple got married a year ago.
Congratulations, Hannah and Eddie! He’s the new face of the Harry Potter franchise, having taken on the role of Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, now filming in London.
Hannah was by the actor’s side throughout this year’s award season, with the publicist also walking red carpets with the talented Brit for his current lead role in The Danish Girl, which has been tipped for Oscar glory in 2016.
In The Danish Girl, the transition of Einar to Lili is gently detailed, with mostly close-up shots of the two principals, perhaps to emphasize Einar’s overwhelming proclivity to act like a woman and his wife’s, Gerda’s (Alicia Vikander), utter love for a husband who is slipping away from her.
The couple, both 33, have just celebrated their first wedding anniversary after tying the knot last Christmas. “It’s been the most wonderful whirlwind”. He went on to say, “I think saint might be the word”.
“She is an absolute saint”, he gushed to People.
He also added, “This whole industry is the most joyous, absurd circus”, he adds.
The film sees Eddie transformed spectacularly once again, this time as as real-life transgender pioneer Lili Elbe, who in 1931 became the first person to undergo sex-reassignment surgery.
